Okay, I've got 3 hours until I speak at Harvard. My hands are sweaty and shaky. My stomach is in knots. I keep having to go to the bathroom. My mind is swimming. This is so crazy!
How unlikely is it that a Stay at Home Mom is speaking at Harvard today? How unbelievable of all people that I'm presenting there? It all seems so improbable, but it's for real.
For my sake, let me briefly tell you about my presentation:
So today I'm going to be talking about my best three strategies for making my days go smoothly at home. When I decide not to do these, I reap the consequences. These end up being my worst days because I'm just reacting to the day. I typically feel pretty frustrated because I don't have a handle on things. But on days when I implement my stress-proof strategies, I am more relaxed, the kids pick up on it and seem happier, too. My kitchen is clean, laundry is done, and dinner is planned. I make time to pretend I'm sailing to Antarctica on the couch with the kids. I'll be sharing ways to create this pulled-together tone in the household today.
(Thanks for letting me share ... I think my hands went down a notch on the sweat-o-meter.)
Yes, my fellow SAHMs, I'm heading to Cambridge in a few hours. I don't know what exactly to expect, but I am telling you that the unlikely story of a SAHM speaking at Harvard is unfolding today.
And hey, if you're thinking of doing something incredible, just give it a try. Who knows, it might just end up being unbelievably awesome. Most people don't have the guts to try something that seems unattainable. But the truth is, since there are so few people that will even try, it's more likely to happen than you may think!
